FAQ

What is Real Estate Photography/Videography

Drone real estate photography uses FAA-licensed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to capture aerial photos and cinematic video of a property and its surroundings. It gives potential buyers a bird's-eye perspective of the home, lot, neighborhood, and nearby amenities — context that ground-level photography simply can't provide.

Does Drone Photography Actually Sell Homes Faster?

Yes. Multiple industry studies show listings with aerial photography sell 68% faster on average than those with only ground-level photos. Aerial imagery is especially impactful for properties with large lots, pools, waterfront access, scenic views, or proximity to parks and amenities.

Are You Legally Allowed to Fly For Hire?

Yes. All commercial drone work in the United States — including photography done for free in exchange for portfolio or business-building purposes — requires an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. We are fully certified and our certificate number is available upon request.

Can You Fly Anywhere?

Under Part 107, we operate under the following federal rules:
- Maximum altitude of 400 feet AGL (above ground level)
- Must remain in visual line of sight at all times
- No flight over people not involved in the operation
- No flight within 5 miles of a controlled airport without LAANC authorization (which we obtain automatically via the FAA DroneZone app)

Some properties near airports, military bases, or national parks may require special waivers or may not be flyable. We check airspace before every booking.

What Equipment Do You Use?

We fly professional-grade DJI drones capable of shooting 4K video and 48MP stills. All aircraft are equipped with obstacle avoidance, GPS stabilization, and 3-axis gimbal stabilization to ensure smooth, professional footage even in light wind conditions.

Current Equipment:
-DJI MAVIC 3 PRO CINE
-DJI MINI 5 PRO
-DJI AVATA 2 (First Person View)

-DJI NEO 2
-Sony FX3 (coming soon)
-Sony FX30 (coming soon)

Do You Carry Insurance?

Yes. We carry commercial drone liability insurance with a minimum of $1 million in coverage. A certificate of insurance can be provided to property owners or real estate brokerages upon request.

How Far In Advance Should I Book?

We recommend booking 3–5 days in advance for standard shoots. This gives us time to check airspace authorization, verify weather windows, and confirm logistics. Rush same-day or next-morning bookings are available for a $75 rush fee, subject to availability.

What is Your Reschedule/Cancellation Policy?

- Weather cancellations: always rescheduled at no charge. We monitor conditions and will reach out proactively if a shoot needs to move.
- Client cancellations with 24+ hrs notice: rescheduled at no charge.
Client cancellations under 24 hrs notice: a $50 rebooking fee applies.
- Same-day no-shows: the full session fee is charged.

What is a "Flight Window"?

The flight window is the total time on-site — from equipment setup and pre-flight checks through all flying and pack-up. It covers battery swaps (each battery gives approximately 25–28 minutes of flight), repositioning, any re-flights for missed shots, and departure. It is not just time in the air. Once the window is used, additional on-site time is billed at $35/hr.

What Weather Conditions Are Ideal?

Safe, quality drone photography requires:

- Wind: under 20 mph sustained (under 15 mph preferred for smooth video)
- Visibility: at least 3 statute miles
Cloud ceiling: 500 feet or higher
- No active precipitation
- Overcast skies are often ideal for photos — diffused light reduces harsh shadows.

We will never fly in unsafe conditions and will always reschedule at no charge if weather doesn't cooperate.

Does Homeowner Need to Be Present?

No, the homeowner does not need to be present. We only need access to the exterior and grounds. If there are gates, locked areas, or specific features to highlight, please note these at the time of booking. We recommend giving neighbors a heads-up as a courtesy so our aircraft doesn't come as a surprise.

How Are Files Delivered?

All files are delivered via unique link to access a personal private portal. Photos are delivered as high-resolution JPEGs sized for MLS upload. Premium photo packages also include original RAW files. Videos are delivered as 1080p or 4K MP4 files. Download links remain active for 30 days.

What Does Editing Include?

Every image receives:

- Exposure and white balance correction
- Horizon straightening and lens distortion correction
- Color grading for natural, vibrant tones
- Minor object removal (bins, hoses, small debris)

We do not artificially alter the property's features, remove permanent structures, or enhance landscaping beyond what was present at the time of the shoot.

Who Owns Photos/Videos After Delivery?

You receive a full commercial use license for the delivered images/videos — you may use them for MLS listings, social media, marketing materials, and print. We retain copyright ownership of the original files and reserve the right to use images/videos in our own portfolio and marketing. If you require exclusive rights (preventing portfolio use), this can be arranged for an additional fee.

Can I Choose the Music For the Reel?

Yes. All reels include licensed, royalty-free music — safe for use on MLS platforms, YouTube, and social media without copyright strikes. We will present 2–3 track options that match the property's feel. You can request a different mood (upbeat, cinematic, ambient) and we will source accordingly. We cannot use commercial music (chart songs) as these trigger content ID claims on social platforms.
